S. Rasoul Etesami | University of Illinois

About me

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am also affiliated with the Coordinated Science Laboratory (CSL), where I am a member of the Decision and Control (DCL) group. Prior to that, I spent one year (2016-2017) as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Princeton University and WINLAB. I received my Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in December 2015.

My research plan involves the understanding of complex social, communication, and distributed networks via the development of a research program that utilizes control and game theory, optimization theory, and applied mathematics. My research is supported by the NSF CAREER Award, and I am currently serving as an Associate Editor of the Journal of IET Smart Grid.

    Prospective Graduate Students

We are always looking for good graduate students with a strong mathematical background. Unfortunately, due to a large number of inquiries, I do not typically respond to emails regarding graduate school positions. However, if interested, please apply directly to the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and mention my name in your application, and I will be happy to review your application during the review process.
